British accents aside, we love Marbella. We love it so much we haven't really wanted to take many excursions. It took a good 10 days to overcome our jetlag - which was worse than any other part of the trip. It worked to our advantage since everyone wakes up around 10 am, eats lunch around 2 or 3pm, takes a siesta (and a break from the workday) and then eats dinner from 9:30 (with kids) to 11 pm. Our friend Jessica called Puerto Banus the Beverly Hills of Spain and she was definitely right. We have seen more expensive cars in this tiny port town than anywhere else in the world (including Rodeo Drive).
We did manage to take a day trip yesterday to a place I dare say is the most charming town in Spain- Ronda. I'm sure you will be able to decipher it from Marbella in the photos below. Our drive to Ronda through the hills of Adulusia was remarkable. It reminded me of the first scenes in 'The Alchemist' where the shepherd boy guided this cattle. The town of Ronda is a maze of cobblestone roads and Arab-inspired palaces and buildings. We will likely return again before we leave Spain at the end of June. Before I sign off, I want to touch on the subject of Spanish food. I was the first to admit that I never really took a liking to the classic cuisine of Spain. I don't really like tapas and everything else was just blah. I'm not necessarily retracting such opinions but we have had some of the best Seafood, Italian food, and even Indian food right here in Marbella!
